Non-Ablative Laser Treatment
We perform non-ablative laser treatments as an outpatient procedure at Beach Cities Vein and Laser Center. Non-ablative lasers offer the least invasive option, since they work on the underlying layers of skin, rather than on the skin’s surface. These treatments stimulate the growth of collagen below the skin’s surface, encouraging a softer, smoother complexion. These treatments can achieve excellent results in the removal of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as scars.
Ablative procedures remove the outer layer of skin cells, allowing the underlying skin layers to produce a smoother complexion. While this type of laser procedure offers the most dramatic results, it also involves more discomfort and a longer recovery time. Most patients need seven to 10 days of healing before they are ready to return to regular activities outside the home.
About the Procedure (Non-ablative Lasers)
In most cases, non-ablative laser procedures can be performed with a topical anesthetic. A cooling device may also be used to keep the patient’s skin comfortable during treatment. Procedures may take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour to complete, depending on the extent of the procedure and the size of the area to be addressed.
